Mr. Scherer is a dynamic and accomplished mortgage banking professional with more than 20 plus years in all aspects of the mortgage banking and real estate industries. As a founding partner and Chief Executive Officer for OnTo Mortgage, Rick has taken his passion and his experience to build a state-of-the-art and customer-centric mortgage business in the New England area. He is responsible for the direction and oversight of all aspects of the company, including mortgage origination, marketing, and strategy, as well as creating and growing a positive work culture by training, leading, and inspiring business partners and employees alike.
With his 20-plus years of increasing mortgage banking and real estate experience, Rick leads the team of professionals focused on providing exceptional residential mortgage lending experiences from 1st time home buyers to the more experienced repeat customer. He asks his employees to share his passion and duplicate his past experiences in providing customer care and quick turnaround for each client that has brought him success and satisfaction. For seven years consecutively, he has been listed in the top 1% of National Residential Mortgage Originators.
Earlier in his mortgage career, he also understood that a team effort, transparent communication, and strategic partnerships within the real estate broker community would nurture the growth of his business and realize the Company’s growth potential. In 2013, he co-developed and introduced a comprehensive training platform for loan originators and real estate owners focused on relationship mastery skills known as Aspire Performance Systems. His direct involvement included training and mentoring many loan originators and real estate partners with great success. This training inspired the Real Estate Buyer’s Playbook which teaches loan originators and real estate agents to become master relationship creators and in doing so, becomes indispensable referral partners. To this day, Rick remains committed as an active mentor, trainer, and coach to many and advocates the importance of forging these relationships in the mortgage business.
Another key ingredient to his success has been his focus on transparent and constant communication and collaboration with his team, his customers, and his partnerships. For several years, he was the voice of a weekly real estate mortgage expert on a news radio talk show in Boston on CBS/WBZ AM 1030. He believes that this transparent and clear communication is essential to learning and understanding the mortgage business and is now embarking on producing Podcasts to further educate employees and partners alike focused on helping customers realize their homeowner dreams.
Rick received his BBA from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts, and currently lives in the Boston area with his wife and two children.
